FESTIVAL DAY SOCCER INVITATIONAL
(SOCCER AT THE MALL)

SATURDAY AUGUST 15, 2009 - REGISTRATION IS NOW CLOSED

The African Community Soccer League presents Festival Day Invitational - Soccer at the Mall event. The soccer games will take place in the middle of the African festival celebration at the open field of the American Legion Mall, downtown, Indianapolis. Date: August 15, 2009. Game format: This will be 7 vs 7 team play. Each team can make as many substitutions as possible. Goal posts will be very small. All game rules will apply. Teams can enter as many players as possible. Each game will be played in two twenty minutes halves. Teams are required to send their players' roster by Thursday, August 13, 2009. Players will not be allowed to cross play between teams. Award will be presented to two top teams. Teams were registered on first-come-first-registered basis. The American Legion Mall (ALM) extends from St. Clair St. to North St. between Meridian and Pennsylvania Sts. On the east side is the American Legion National headquarters, and on the west side is the headquarters of the American Legion's Department of Indiana. 

UPDATE: Entry for the August 15 soccer invitational is now closed. Ten teams are registered: (1) Team Sierra Leone, (2) Team Eritrea, (3) Team Somalia, (4) Team Africa, (5) Team Sudan - Fort Wayne, IN., (6) Team Ethiopia, (7) Amajita United (Zimbabwe), (8) Team Niger, (9) Team Morocco and (10) Team Senegal.

Each participating team must send it's team's roster to the League's office on or before Thursday, April 13, 2009. The roster must be sent by email to: africancenter@sbcglobal.net

Important notice:
Team captains must ensure that players pick up their trashes and clean up their seating areas during and after games.

We are working on a tight schedule. Therefore teams cannot come late to the games. Lateness can easily result in forfeit. Other game rules will be released here. Check back.

 

PRESENTATION OF AWARDS: Awards for the soccer tournament's champions, second place team and the two other finalists will be presented on Saturday, August 15, 2009. Presentation will take place on the main stage in the middle of the African Festival celebration at the American Legion Mall, downtown, Indianapolis. Time of presentation will be announced. Team members can show off their winning pride by inviting family members and friends to the presentation. Admission to the festival is free.
